Avoid the Himalayan Hype - Goji Juice

It sickens me when this food is touted as the 'latest medical breakthrough' or 'ancient Chinese secret'. Does it have benefits? Sure! But I can't stand to see that benefit sold overpriced in a hyped up, and sometimes multi-level-marketing way.

Any site that says any thing about how Time magazine called goji the 'Superfruit' of the year is marketing the same way as spammers.

As seen on Oprah! The Today Show! Time Magazine called it the super fruit of the year!

Here is the story from Time magazine. The article is about a food show in New York City. There are five or six headings, and one of them is SUPERFRUITS. In that section, the fact is stated that some fruits have better health credentials than others. Agreed.

But get this! The second sentence of this single paragraph about these fruits reads So-called superfruits flavored everything from pomegranate-blueberry lemonade to açaí energy bars.

So Time was only mentioning the fact that some of the vendors were calling their products SUPERFRUITS. The next line in this single section mentions that the breakout fruit was the Himalayan goji berry, said to be a source of energy and longevity, which Time did not SAY but REPORTED IT WAS BEING SAID. The last line just states that the berry made several appearances in different trail mixes and snacks.

But, if you want to see how the hype marketers have used this to their advantage, view the results of the google search for "super fruit of the year" and see all the sites trying to get us to overpay for their product that is somehow medicinally the single greatest historical event of our time. View the mountain of sites with statements such as 'Time magazine, the people who have the “Man of the Year” every year, named the Goji Berry the Super Fruit of the Year' and judge for yourself what Time magazine really said. Boo! Boo! Boooooooooooo!

Don't get me wrong, I love wolfberries, and I have chosen to eat them at least once a day by adding them to tea, wine or water. I think that the most important thing that can be done with fructus lycii is continued examination and eating, not hyping it up through some fad, trying to get everyone to believe they can drink some juice and not change their lifestyle.

Thank you.
